Obsidian

Obsidian is the closest thing to a default home for anyone who thinks in markdown. It's local, fast, file-system-native, and the plugin ecosystem covers almost every niche. The friction point is everything that lives outside Obsidian. Articles, papers, tweets, threads, anything I read on the web that I'd want to get into the vault without copy-paste hell.

The posts here are about closing that loop. How to clip the web directly into an Obsidian vault as clean markdown, with no nav, no ads, no broken images. How to use the YAML frontmatter you get from a structured save to power Dataview queries or Bases views. What linking patterns actually pay off after a year of use versus the ones that look elegant but go stale. How to wire Obsidian up to Claude or ChatGPT through MCP so your AI has direct read access to the same notes you do, without uploading anything, just reading the local vault.

If you've spent six months tweaking your Obsidian setup and the bottleneck is "I keep meaning to save more things from the web", these posts are aimed at exactly that gap.
